The initial repair healed too long and then I consequently ruptured both Peroneal tendons in my ankle giving me non existent lateral support so I wore the brace and found it to be wonderful. I am not so sure it will make a difference to an Achilles repair where you totally don't want to have it heal too long.
An Achilles tendon rupture was created 4 cm from the calcaneal insertion. Thirteen Achilles ruptures were repaired using the traditional Krackow technique and 13 pairs were repaired using the Giftbox technique. The Achilles tendons were then tested to failure as defined as a gap of 1 cm.
